Call for Proposals: SGCI offering approx. $1,020,000 to NGO Projects

Deadline: 05 August 2022

The Science Granting Councils Initiative in sub-Saharan Africa (SGCI) invites project proposals from organizations (including think tanks, institutes, universities, and agencies) with proven experience and track records to deepen ongoing work with councils that enhances gender, equality and inclusion(GEI).

The goal of the project on Gender Equality and Inclusivity, to be funded under this call by the new SGCI partnerships involving IDRC, the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), is to reinforce the capacity of science granting councils to mainstream gender and inclusivity into science, technology and innovation.

The SGCI’s ongoing work on gender, equality and inclusion will be deepened and councils will be supported to implement the knowledge and lessons gained during the two phases of SGCI initiatives (SGCI-1 and SGCI-2). Achieving this goal could include work in three broad areas: promoting:

  • the equality and status of women in research environments;

  • diversity and inclusivity beyond gender equality in research environments; and

  • the sex, gender and inclusivity dimension in research design and content.
